The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) is the healthcare industrys membership organization exclusively focused on providing global leadership for the optimal use of healthcare information technology (IT) and management systems for the betterment of healthcare.
Curtis election to the HIMSS board comes at a time when Health IT is a pivotal piece of healthcare reform. HIMSS helps provide a unified voice relative to standards development, the Electronic Health Record certification process, interoperability, performance and quality measures, and other issues as they become subject to increasing government, insurance and provider-driven initiatives and requests.
CEO David Castleberry said Curtis is a true leader at Upson and HIMSS will benefit from his leadership on its state board. Curtis election provides Upson a seat at a very important table. This is an exciting time for Health IT, and for Curtis. He is most deserving of this leadership role.

George Curtis is Upsons director of information services and has worked at the hospital for the past nine years. Curtis holds a bachelors degree in information systems and a masters degree in hospital and business administration.
